1901 #77 2c Numeral tied by Mansonville & Montreal PO ( MY 11 01) on cover to Capt W.H. Murray Royal Canadian Regiment, Wellington Barracks, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The RCR was stationed in Halifax, preparing to sail for South Africa and the Boer War. The Murray correspondence is often on blue paper, with received dates at the top (like this one). The contents are a long letter (fragmented and breaking along folds) and includes a newspaper clipping regarding changing Halifax into a naval station.
